comport \kum-PORT\, transitive verb:
1. To conduct or behave (oneself) in a particular manner.
intransitive verb:1. To be fitting; to accord; to agree -- usually followed by 'with'.

Considered friendly and funny in private, the queen has a formal, remote air in public that some people attribute to shyness and others say is a reflection of her belief that, as monarch, she should comport herself with dignity and restraint.

Had a reallyyy good weekend at amanda's in north dandulup. haha it was a unique experience, 100acres of land with wild animals, and the house was marvellous. atop the hill, we slept in a room that u could watch stars thru the windows, wake up amidst the trees, like what cheesy says and it's just sooo serene and laidback. loved the quad bike! it was so fun riding it. now i think i shld b able to drive a car pretty fine, altho i think i almost killed mich n yvo when i jerked a lot. must say that amanda's dad is very cool, his inspirational words really hit me. joe's session was also very interesting. learnt how some people perceive love and romance to be, and lo and behold, songs of songs was mentioned. haha i think it's a sign to me. it can't be all that coincidental. i love that book. it is such an interesting book and "do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires" is repeated 3 times in that entire book. then again, i should be thinking of my first love, God. how he ought to have priority over all things. sometimes, we only remember God amidst our troubles. when we are in joy, happiness, success, we are often more self-gratified. guess i have to learn how to share my joys and sorrows with God more and be thankful.

Life down under has been soo fantastic. i can't imagine leaving this life for 3 mths, and i'm already starting to miss the weather, company, church, cell and so on. i really do love life now. God is so gracious. i think im starting to see His purpose for me in coming here instead of staying in singapore. i'll miss perth for 3 mths. can't wait to eat and catch up with family and friends back in spore tho! i hope u all miss me enough!

2 more days!

WORD OF THE DAY
flaneur \flah-NUR\, noun:
One who strolls about aimlessly; a lounger; a loafer.

The restricted hotel lobby has replaced the square or piazza as a public meeting place, and our boulevards, such as they are, are not avenues for the parade and observation of personality, or for perusal by the flaneur, but conveyor belts to the stores, where we can buy everything but human understanding.
-- Anatole Broyard, "In Praise of Contact", New York Times, June 27, 1982

((:

o im liking the word of the day thing. it's fun, and i like today's context of use.
"boulevards, such as they are, are not avenues for the parade and observation of personality, or for perusal by the flaneur, but conveyor belts to the stores, where we can buy everything but human understanding." especially the last part. now it seems quite true to me that indeed we can buy anything and everything off the streets but human understanding. how enlightening!

deleterious \del-uh-TIR-ee-us\, adjective:
Harmful; destructive; pernicious.

Heat, especially year-round heat, has an even more deleterious consequence: it encourages the proliferation of life forms hostile to man.

the party was not bad. at least everyone more or less enjoyed it i guess.. chloe was in suchhhhh a shock when she realised it was not the cambodia team that was in her house but us! awww.. she was really touched. i was moody the entire day, perhaps because of the cacophony of joys, laughters, endless talks and stuffs. i don't know. blah, i dun feel good. been having IBS n it's not going away. the party reminded me of the pre-perth party 52 had at mine. it was WAYYYY cool. sigh. it's sooo cool to have surprise parties!

A thousand different words
I wanna say
Yet I don’t know how to say it out.
It’s just this feeling inside me,
All jumbled up that I can’t express.

I wish I could have my way.
If only things all went well,
Troubles and sorrows all at bay.
What’s with me I say?
I guess it’s just a bad day.

gone with the wind. i was blown away literally. jogging at 7 is just terrible. jogged from layton to cottesloe beach, but i couldn't jog back because the wind was pushing me. yet again i zig-zaged, then i gave up. it was tooooo tedious. aching now. terribly klutzy. banged my knee in the med lib, banged my toe on the wardrobe after. little wonder why my toe nail fell out today. blah. o wells, i bought A LOT A LOT OF CHOCOLATES TODAY. i was craving it but the lady went off already. but the reason i bought them was cuz they were on sale and im sure my sunny island friends will LOVEEE THEM. 2 packs of fredo, 4 bars of Heaven, 4 bars of Cadbury. More to comeeee!! i love woolies. mehhhhhhh. i read something cool yesterday.

song of songs: throughout the entire chapter, this was repeated 3 times.

"Do not arouse or awaken love until it so desires"

i'm marvelled. i saw it once, then i saw it again, and then i concentrated on looking for more, so it was three. the holy number 3. haha i'm tickled by it. seems so satirical though.

i'm gonna go on a quest to improve my deteriorating english.

WORD OF THE DAY

Ameliorate \uh-MEEL-yuh-rayt\, transitive verb:

1. To make better; to improve.

In the socially fluid and (until the crash of 1837) economically expansive 1830s, the legislature frequently appropriated public money to investigate social problems, forestall dependency, and ameliorate human suffering.

another strange thing happened to me today. was walking out of winthrop hall after ebs exam today and i sort of tripped the pavement a bit. guess what, that broke my thong. the thong part came off and i couldnt walk without the thing flapping! in the end i had to tie a rubber band to it while attempts to call hostelites failed to retrieve a pair of slippers. went to city to shop thinking i will find something easily. murphy's law held. i didn't find any till realllyyy late in the day. a nice pair of gold heels for 16.90 was COOL! haha. tired, can't tink anymore. expended all my ATP and im left with all the ADP. red bull made me HUNGRY, because of increased metabolism this morning. it's not nice to drink, but o wells, it kept me awake for the day. nitenite, alas! a good nite's sleep is coming my way.

given up on giving up. it didn't work. tactic 2 in progress.

the day has been bizarre. was hungry while studying in the med lib n so i got dear wan ting to bring me some food. she could only get bread but it was sweet that she got butter and sugar as well! so ehhh i was in a nice position where everyone could see what i was doing. i tried to get the butter onto the bread using the serviette to as my "knife". and then i poured the sugar on. i felt quite embarassed but o well, stomach over glam. hahahhaa and i think everyone saw how weird i was. o wells. can't help it, i was THAT HUNGRY. Cher sent me home though i wanted to stay longer to do the papers and we dopped by chelsea's! YUMMERICIOUS. i had chicken tandoori while he had a nog. yummmmm. vast difference from the bread i had earlier on i must say! and when we were heading back to his car, i walked to the car, and tried to open the door.
Cher: What are you doing?
Me: Oei why you don't open the door?
Cher: What are you doinnggggg?
Me: *looked down and realised it was not Cher's car.

LOL!!! IT WAS HILARIOUS. we spent the wholeeeee minute laughing at my sillyness. i do not know how or why i thought that was his car. it was not even the SAMEEE type, or colour! it had 4 doors, not 2 and i don't know whyyyyy. but i didn't have any squids! as Amanda says, squids these days are expensive, and so i havent had them. WHY. i think it was the exam. blahhh
